Huawei CloudEngine S12700E-12 Switch – Product Documentation
Product Overview
The Huawei CloudEngine S12700E-12 is a flagship modular core switch designed for high-end campus networks in the Wi-Fi 6 era. As part of Huawei’s CloudCampus portfolio, it delivers industry-leading data switching capabilities and massive terminal access capacity, making it an ideal solution for building next-generation, high-quality campus networks at the core layer.
The S12700E-12 features a high-reliability CLOS architecture with separate control and forwarding planes, equipped with 12 service slots, 2 main processing unit (MPU) slots, and 4 independent switch fabric units (SFUs). It delivers an industry-leading single-slot bandwidth of 4.8 Tbps, which can be scaled to 7.2 Tbps through future SFU upgrades. The switch supports up to 576 x 10GE, 480 x 25GE, 288 x 40GE, or 288 x 100GE ports per chassis, offering unmatched port density in the industry.
Key innovations include advanced cell switching technology that ensures non-blocking, zero-packet-loss data forwarding, and built-in wireless AC functionality that manages up to 10,240 wireless APs and over 50,000 wireless users per chassis. The switch also supports wired-wireless convergence with unified user management and policy enforcement.
Built on a fully programmable Solar chipset, the CloudEngine S12700E enables service updates without hardware replacement. It supports VXLAN with BGP-EVPN for L2 and L3 gateways (centralized and distributed), automated network deployment via NETCONF, and Super Virtual Fabric (SVF) that virtualizes up to 10K client nodes (access switches and APs) into a single managed device. Additional capabilities include iPCA for real-time packet loss detection, intelligent HQoS for hierarchical traffic scheduling, and Telemetry for real-time network monitoring and analysis.
The switch is powered by either AC or DC power supplies with N+N/N+1/N+0 redundancy configurations. It is widely deployed across government, finance, energy, and other industries for large-scale campus core networks.
