Huawei CloudEngine CE6863-48S6CQ Data Center Switch

Product Overview

The Huawei CloudEngine CE6863-48S6CQ is a next-generation, high-performance fixed-form-factor data center access switch purpose-built for high-density 25GE server access and 100GE uplink connectivity. Part of the CloudEngine 6800 Series, this 1U switch delivers a non-blocking architecture with 48 × 25GE SFP28 downlink ports and 6 × 100GE QSFP28 uplink ports, making it ideal for leaf-spine and spine-leaf data center fabrics, cloud infrastructure, AI/ML training clusters, and high-performance computing environments.

Powered by Huawei’s VRP8 (Versatile Routing Platform) software, the CE6863-48S6CQ supports advanced virtualization and overlay networking capabilities including VXLAN with BGP-EVPN, enabling scalable multi-tenant network segmentation and seamless integration with SDN controllers such as Huawei iMaster NCE-Fabric. The switch features M-LAG (Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation) for active-active device-level redundancy, hardware-based telemetry with iPCA and FabricInsight for real-time network visibility, and comprehensive automation tools including Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP), Ansible, and OpenFlow.

The platform is designed for operational efficiency and reliability, supporting hot-swappable redundant power supplies (AC/DC/HVDC options) and up to 4 hot-swappable fan trays with flexible airflow direction (front-to-back or back-to-front) to accommodate diverse data center cooling architectures. With a switching capacity of 3.6 Tbit/s and a forwarding rate of 940 Mpps, the CE6863-48S6CQ provides the throughput and low-latency performance required for bandwidth-intensive workloads such as distributed storage, NVMe-oF, and GPU cluster interconnects.

The CE6863-48S6CQ is available in multiple airflow variants, including the -B (port-side intake) and -F (port-side exhaust) models, to match specific rack cooling requirements.
