Product Overview

The Huawei CloudEngine S5731-S48S4X is a next-generation standard gigabit access switch from the CloudEngine S5731-S series. Built on Huawei’s unified Versatile Routing Platform (VRP), it delivers enhanced Layer 3 features, simplified operations and maintenance (O&M), Intelligent Stack (iStack) technology — allowing multiple stacking-capable switches to function as a single logical switch — flexible Ethernet networking, and mature IPv6 capabilities.

The switch provides 48 x GE SFP ports for downlink access and 4 x 10GE SFP+ ports for high-speed uplink connectivity. It supports 1+1 power redundancy with pluggable AC and DC power modules that can be used together in the same switch. The S5731-S48S4X is widely deployed in enterprise campus access and aggregation, as well as data center access scenarios.

Key capabilities include VXLAN-based network virtualization for automated service deployment — enabling “one network for multiple purposes” and reducing OPEX by up to 80%, Super Virtual Fabric (SVF) which virtualizes the core/aggregation switch + access switch + AP into a single logical device for simplified O&M, and built-in security probes that identify potentially malicious traffic and collaborate with the Huawei HiSec Insight system for network-wide collaborative security protection.

In V200R023C00 and later versions, ports numbered from GE5 to GE48 can be configured to operate at 2.5 Gbit/s using the port mode 2.5ge command.
