Huawei S12708 Switch – Product Information Sheet
Product Overview
The Huawei S12708 is a modular core switch from the S12700 series, designed specifically for next-generation high-quality campus networks. As a purpose-built core switching platform, it helps create campus networks that improve user experiences, reduce operating costs, and deliver unmatched security and trustworthiness for a fully connected, wireless era.
The S12708 adopts a highly reliable CLOS architecture with separated system control boards and switching boards. SFUs (Switch Fabric Units) can be configured on demand, reducing initial costs while allowing future upgrades for smooth network evolution. All key components—including power supplies, fan modules, MPUs (Main Processing Units), LPUs (Line Processing Units), SFUs, and cluster cards—support hot swapping and redundancy backup.
Key innovative features of the S12708 include:
-
Industry-leading native AC: The switch can manage up to 10,240 APs, enabling integrated management of wired and wireless networks, reducing overall network construction costs, and simplifying campus network O&M.
-
Industry-leading free mobility: Refined policy management based on users and applications ensures consistent service policies and experiences anytime, anywhere, and across any access mode.
-
Leading CSS2 cluster architecture: Based on innovative CSS2 hardware clustering technology, 1+N backup of MPUs on modular core switches ensures that an MPU failure does not affect service data exchange of the entire system.
-
Fully programmable architecture: Built on Huawei’s Ethernet Network Processor (ENP), the switch supports flexible and rapid customization, enabling smooth network evolution to SDN (Software-Defined Networking).
The S12708 is available as a 15U chassis with a left-to-rear ventilation channel for improved energy efficiency.
