The IBM 01EJ187 is a high-performance, enterprise-grade 4-Port (Quad-Port) 16Gbps Fibre Channel (FC) Host Interface Card (HIC). It is engineered specifically as a scalable expansion module for IBM Storwize V5000 Gen2 (G2) and FlashSystem 5000 series controller node canisters.
By adding this host interface card into available expansion slots, data center administrators can significantly expand storage area network (SAN) throughput, alleviate network bottlenecks, and implement high-availability multi-path topologies. The card provides line-rate 16Gbps performance per port, backward compatibility with existing 8Gbps and 4Gbps infrastructure, and includes four high-reliability 16Gb SFP+ transceivers.
