Product Overview
The Dell PowerEdge R660xs is a 1U, two-socket rack server purpose-built for balanced and dense compute in air-cooled environments. It delivers the performance required for the most popular enterprise IT workloads — virtualization, cloud, scale-out databases, and high-performance computing — while fitting seamlessly into existing air-cooled data center infrastructure without the need for costly liquid cooling retrofits .
The system supports up to two 5th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (up to 28 cores each) or 4th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (up to 32 cores per processor), paired with 16 DDR5 RDIMM slots for in-memory workload acceleration . A carefully designed 1U platform, the R660xs provides up to 5 I/O devices via three PCIe slots, one OCP 3.0 networking slot, and one dedicated PERC slot, enabling improved data throughput and reduced latency .
Security is embedded throughout the lifecycle with a cyber-resilient architecture featuring Silicon Root of Trust, cryptographically signed firmware, and system lockdown capabilities to support zero-trust IT environments .
