Dell PowerEdge R250 Rack Server — Product Overview & Specifications
Product Overview
The Dell PowerEdge R250 is a 1U entry-level rack server engineered for small businesses, remote offices, and edge deployments that require dependable compute performance without unnecessary complexity. Powered by a single Intel Xeon E-2300 series processor (or Intel Pentium for lighter workloads), it delivers up to 8 execution cores to handle common business applications such as file and print services, collaboration platforms, and lightweight virtualization.
The R250 supports up to four DDR4 UDIMM slots with speeds reaching 3200 MT/s and a maximum memory capacity of 128 GB, providing ample headroom for growing workloads. Storage flexibility is achieved through support for up to four 3.5-inch SAS/SATA hot-plug drives or wired drive configurations, with hardware RAID options available via PERC and HBA controllers.
Two PCIe 4.0 expansion slots (one x8 and one x16, both half-height/half-length, limited to 25 W per slot) enable network, storage, or boot device expansion. System management is handled by iDRAC9, offering out-of-band management without occupying front-panel resources. The R250 is designed for straightforward deployment and efficient operation in space-constrained rack environments.
