Huawei CloudEngine S16700-4 – Product Documentation & Specifications
Product Overview
The Huawei CloudEngine S16700-4 is a next-generation flagship modular core switch designed for high-end campus networks in the fully-wireless era. As the 4-slot model in the CloudEngine S16700 series, it delivers ultra-high-density 10GE/40GE/100GE/200GE/400GE full-rate access ports, enabling customers to rapidly build campus networks with a simplified architecture.
Built on a backplane-free orthogonal Clos architecture, the S16700-4 features a per-slot bandwidth of 14.4 Tbit/s — four times the industry average — providing ultra-fast forwarding capability and massive terminal access. All key components — including Main Processing Units (MPUs), Switch Fabric Units (SFUs), power modules, and fan modules — adopt redundant designs for carrier-grade reliability.
The S16700-4 is the first campus switch to apply Multichassis Link Aggregation Group (M-LAG) technology, achieving 99.9999% high reliability with uninterrupted service upgrades and fault isolation. Additional features include VXLAN L2 and L3 gateways, centralized and distributed gateway deployment, BGP-EVPN, NETCONF-based configuration, and iPCA for real-time packet loss and latency statistics at both network and device levels.
With its high-density line cards, robust reliability, programmable switching chips, and comprehensive security capabilities, the CloudEngine S16700-4 is an ideal core/aggregation switch for global customers to usher in the 400 Gbps era of campus networks, helping organizations accelerate their digital transformation.
