Product Overview

The Huawei OceanStor 5800 V5 is a mid-range hybrid flash storage system designed for enterprise-level data centers. As part of the OceanStor 5000 V5 series, it delivers a robust and intelligent storage architecture that converges SAN and NAS functionality natively, eliminating the need for separate gateway solutions.

The system leverages a scale-out controller architecture, supporting up to 16 controllers in a cluster to dynamically scale performance and capacity as business demands grow. It is equipped with multi-core processors and a substantial system cache that expands with the number of controllers, ranging from 1.5 TB up to 12 TB in maximum configurations.

The 5800 V5 features a comprehensive suite of intelligent storage management software. This includes advanced data protection tools such as HyperSnap (snapshot), HyperClone (clone), HyperReplication (remote replication), and HyperMetro (active-active arrays). For efficiency, it incorporates SmartDedupe (deduplication), SmartCompression (compression), and SmartTier (automated data tiering) to optimize storage utilization and performance. Its heterogeneous virtualization capabilities allow it to integrate and manage storage resources from other mainstream vendors, providing a unified storage pool.

The system is built in a 3U form factor for the control enclosure, supporting various disk enclosures (2U, 4U) and high-density configurations to accommodate up to 2,000 hard disk drives. It supports a wide array of front-end and back-end connectivity options, including multiple speeds of Fibre Channel (FC) and Ethernet, and SAS 3.0 for backend connections.
