The Lenovo ThinkServer RD640 server is a dual-socket 2U workhorse server that’s ideal for database, analytics, and other common business applications. Lenovo’s Smart Grid management technology and support for low-voltage memory modules help keep energy expenses low. Powered by either one or two Intel’s Xeon E5-2600 processors, the Lenovo ThinkServer RD640 server provides up to 32TB of storage in just a 2U chassis. In a dual-processor configuration, the system will support up to 20 DIMM slots. One or two Intel Xeon E5-2600 or E5-2600 v2 CPUs are used in this dual-socket server. The E5-2600 v2 CPUs have 50 percent more cache and cores than prior generation processors, resulting in a 35 percent gain in performance.
